Houston Death – The Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo have confirmed the death of a 2-year-old girl whose body was found on Sunday, August 23 in Houston.
According to Acevedo, the baby girl’s body was found in Brays Bayou and might probably be the body of a 2-year-old girl who was reported missing on Saturday from an apartment complex playground.
On Saturday, August 22, an amber alert was issued for a 2-year-old girl named Maliya Bass who was last seen on Saturday at 9.30 a.m in the 10600 block of Beechnut Street, says KPRC.
Although the body of the child found has not been determined to be that of Maliya, there is a high probability of it being the missing child due to the time frame from when Maliya was reported and where the body was found, says Acevedo.
The body was spotted by a jogger at 10.30 a.m on Sunday floating in the bayou and placed a call to the authorities, says Acevedo.
The child’s body was pulled to the shore by the Houston Fire Department and she was pronounced dead at the scene, says Acevedo.
In Acevedo’s statement, he believes there’s foul play in the death of the little one even if the body is not that of Maliya. He is hereby asking the public to contact the authorities with information that could aid their investigation.
“If you live or have a business by the bayou, go back for the last 24 hours and take an extensive look at any camera you may have,”says Acevedo .
“If you saw anything suspicious, if you saw any suspicious vehicles or individuals in the last 24 hours, anything that has happened in the last 24 hours, call us right away. We need the public’s help,” he said.
