Sad to hear about Alan Minter passing away. Met him forty years ago at a local boys Club and I remember him being a really nice guy. Got his autograph in the loft somewhere too.😞

Really sad to hear of the passing of Alan Minter. Great memories of his fights late 70’s into the 80’s. Remember him winning the world title against Antuofermo & the painful loss to Hagler. It was shown on a big screen in the Aquarius in Chesterfield. 🤓 RIP Champ 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 pic.twitter.com/gpkKlg2Znv

Alan Minter was a terrific boxer. Was there to see him beat Gratien Tonna to retain his European middleweight title back in November 1978 at the Empire Pool, Wembley.

Can’t remember what I was doing at the weekend, but recognised #AlanMinter ‘s name immediately. I’m not even a boxing fan, but feel sure my Dad called him “Boom Boom Minter” – am I making that up ? #Boxing
