Angelo Lozada Death | Comedian Angelo Lozada Passed Away

Comedian Angelo Lozada has died. He passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2019. The details about his death is not yet clear.

Lozada was a great comedian, funny, and brave. Tributes are pouring out in numbers on Twitter and other social media platforms.

Angelo Lozada, a native of Bronx, New York was hailed as one of the top 50 Latino comics in the U.S. He was a very talented individual with multiple careers which included stand-up, sketch comedy, writing, theater and film. As a comedian, he had scored credits on NBC’s Showtime at the Apollo, BET’s Comic View, SiTV’s Latino Laugh Festival, and most recently, Martin Lawrence Presents: First Amendment on the STARZ cable television network.

Lozada’s acclaimed comedy troupe, Nuyorican Rule appeared in Showtime at the Apollo and veteran comic Robert Klein’s New Joke City.

Lozada had fought racism, class and gender stereotypes through comedy. This revolutionary comedy troupe has inspired numerous other urban comedy troupes and is often recalled and invited to return to large and small stages.

Lozada was head writer on the animated series, Lugar Heights, featured on MTV3, MUN2, Galavision and MTV3.

As an actor, Lozada was invited and accepted to perform in the New York Stage and Film’s production of A Shoe Story in 2009. He had made appearances  on many films of which included Arrangement, Destination Unknown, The Start-up, and Blind Leading the Blind, one of the 2007 New York City’s Latino International Festival’s featured short films.

Angelo Lozada passed away after suffering from cancer. He was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer on December 12.

A GoFundme page was initially opened for the cancer treatment, but sadly, he passed away away few days after he had been diagnosed of cancer and was being treated..

Statement on GoFundMe reads…

“On December 12th, 2018 my dad was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer. My dad is the bravest, funniest, wisest, most generous being I know. Every day I learn something new from him and I aspire to be even half the man he is today. I never quite understood how many lives my dad has reached across the globe with his stand up, sketches, writing and just overall charm; people never seem to forget the day they met Angelo Lozada.”

RIP Angelo Lozada. Warm, charismatic, funny and one of the best MCs I had the pleasure of working with. Had such a great presence and calming energy. He will be missed.

I’m so sad to learn we’ve lost Angelo Lozada. He could do political comedy that made everyone laugh, even those who disagreed. He appeared many times on our @SiriusXM show & joined us this fall for Laughing Liberally Off B’way. His soul is mighty. I love him and I thank him.
