Brandon Wesley Death –  The identity of the man shot to death on Saturday night, July 18, in Homestead Park on the South Side, has been released by the Mahoning County Coroner’s Office as 19-year-old Brandon Wesley. This release was made on Tuesday, July 21.

According to Wesley’s friends report to the police, they saw gunfire from someone riding a dirt bike before 10 p.m. While eye witnesses said the gunfire came from several men carrying book bags and handguns who fled southbound after the shooting.

It seems Wesley was an innocent bystander and not a target said Lt. Brian Welsh of the Youngstown Police Department detective bureau.

The victim, was taken by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

In a news release on Tuesday, the coroner’s office stated an autopsy will be conducted.
