Geneva Lake Death – The authorities have confirmed the drowning incident that took the life of a 40-year-old Chicago man in Geneva Lake on Monday night, July 27, 2020 after the man drifted away from his boat.
According to the police reports they were called around 5:pm on Monday to a possible drowning incident.
Upon there arrival, they were informed that the man rented a pontoon boat and was swimming in Geneva Lake when he started to struggle, drift away from the boat and call for help.
According to witness report to the police, they were unable to start their boat on time to help the man. It was already late by the time they got to him. They threw a life jacket to him but he was unable to reach the jacket.
The recovery operations continued until dark and resumed at 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
The man was later found just before 8 a.m.
As investigation continues, the death is not considered suspicious.
