Darrin Christopher Thomas Death – Investigation is ongoing by the Mackinac County Sheriff’s Deputies to determine the cause of the fatal motor accident that happened on US-2 near River Road in Garfield Township, which caused the death of one man identified as 43-year-old Darrin Christopher Thomas from Baldwin, of Michigan.
On Saturday, July 25, Deputies and Troopers from the Michigan State Police St. Ignace Post responded to a call of two-vehicle accident involving a motorcycle and a pick up dragging a camper.
According to the preliminary investigation, the driver of the motorcycle was driving eastbound trying to pass a slower moving vehicle pulling a camper trailer and hit the oncoming pickup in the westbound lane.
Thomas, the motorcyclist died at the scene.
The 4 occupants of the pickup truck were not injured.
At the time of the accident, Thomas was not wearing a helmet and it was indicated that he may not have gotten his cycle endorsement from the Secretary of State, says the investigators.
Alcohol and speed are not considered to be contributing to the cause of the accident.
