It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our daughter, Erin Betty Lukas, on August 1st, 2021. Over the past few months, we have been carefully addressing some mental health issues and the progress was looking very positive with much support from family and many loving friends. But mental health is an illness with many complexities. We know her for her love of life, family and friends. She was strong for everyone around her, and we do not believe this was a conscious decision, but a disease process that we may never understand.
Like every death, the coming to an end of Erin Lukas life has sent shivers down the spine of many.

Who Is Erin Lukas
Erin, you were always the brightest smile on the bench and a fierce competitor on the ice, never failing to enter the dressing room with a wild story that made us all laugh. I am so grateful to have known you as a friend and teammate, and will always cherish the times we had together. Even those with the biggest smiles struggle with mental health. My heart and support go out to anyone who struggles with mental health.
Love and well wishes to Rudi and the Lukas family. Rest in Peace Angel
Erin Lukas Funeral Service
Keep your loved ones close, and we hope to see you then to reminisce. All friends old and new are welcome. To honour Erin and her favourite colours, we ask that everyone wear yellow or purple, or at least something sparkly. To keep things bright, we ask that no one wear black.
Please hold off on flowers and food – your love and support, kindness and attention are more than enough. If desired, donations can go to the Alberta Mental Health Society, or the Vernon General Hospital.
We will be having finger food, some drinks, lots of pictures and laughs and of course, we will cry together.”
