In 2012, I lost my auntie who had only one son. She adopted the child 5 years before her death. There have been a lot of death people’s stories I have heard but never believed much until my auntie died.
It happened in Oba, Anambra State of Nigeria. She was a very stingy auntie, not just stingy to others but to her own self too. The whole members of the family knew that very auntie could not buy drink or good for her own self till death.
She passed away in our family house with her financial savings tied to her waist. She had always carried her money on her waist so she died on early morning around 7 a.m. When doctors confirmed her death, my grandma who died 5 years after my auntie untied the money from her waist and went to keep it in her room hoping the money would be used to train my auntie’s only son.
7 hours after my auntie’s death, she was still kept somewhere in the house because phone calls were being made to relatives at home and abroad for funeral decisions to be made.
Either we bury her instantly or we take her to mortuary. To everyone’s shock, my auntie woke up from death, went straight to my grandma, and fiercely demanded for that money she took away from her waist.
Without hesitation, my grandma went to her room cupboard and brought out the money and gave it to. My auntie tied the money to her waist and walked to place where she lying dead and died again.
For 2 days, everybody was afraid and nobody touched her nor neared her. The whole family was gripped with fear. The money was later untied from her waist and was used in purchase of her coffin, and to cover some of her burial expenses.
Please this is not an imaginative stories. It happened for real in my home in Akuzu Oba, in Anambra State of Nigeria.
