Douglas M. Rankin, age 56, of O’Fallon, Illinois, previously of Collinsville, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on March 16, 1966 in Granite City, Illinois. Douglas M. Rankin had lived in Collinsville, Illinois. Doug spent many years working in the banking industry in addition to his job as a financial counselor for Edward Jones. He also worked for the company. After graduating from Metro East Lutheran High School, he continued his education at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, where he received a degree in Marketing.

He was an Elder at Trinity Lutheran Church, where he also served as a member and announced online services. His hobbies were participating in sports and spending time with his family at Lake Sara near Effingham. He was a member of the Collinsville Recreation Club. Doug’s first priority in life was to spend time with his loved ones, and one of his favorite ways to do this was to throw various “food fests.” His mother-in-law, Judy Cochran, passed away before him. She was his immediate predecessor.

Doug is survived by his devoted wife, Lori (nee Cochran) Rankin, whom he married on April 6, 1991; two sons: Matthew Rankin of Florissant, Missouri and Will Rankin of O’Fallon, Illinois; a granddaughter, Lila Brandt; his parents, Duane and Ruth (nee Woehler) Rankin; a brother, Ken (Debbie) Rankin of Bel Air, Maryland; two sisters: Pam (

On Friday, January 13, 2023, visitation will take place from 4 to 7 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, located at 600 Water Street in Edwardsville, Illinois. On Saturday, January 14, 2023, visitation will take place from 9 to 10 am at the same location.

The funeral will be held at the church on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at ten in the morning, and Reverend John Shank will preside over the ceremony. Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery in Collinsville is going to be the location of the burial.
