Empire Maker Death – Obituary:

Belmont Stakes winner Empire Maker has died at the age of 20 after stallion career that saw him become a sire of championship-winning sires.

The death of Empire Maker was announced on Twitter and lovers of the stallion have since been pouring out tributes on their timeline.

“We were saddened to hear of Empire Maker’s passing at @Gainesway. Our condolences to everyone who’s worked with, and had a connection to him. He truly was one of the greats. #EmpireMaker”

“The sad news about Empire Maker is hard to hear. Being a youngster at 16, and sharing the love of racing with my dad, my first horse I loved was Empire Maker. The 2003 Florida Derby made me so happy, and the 2003 Belmont was amazing. As a sire, there arent many better”
