Glasgow City Stabbing – The Glasgow City Center has been sealed by the Armed Police following the stabbing to death of three people in a hotel stairwell.
The suspect was shot by the Armed police and is also believed to be dead.
Among the victims stabbed is a police officer. A statement from the Police office says that the situation was contained and no danger for the general public as Armed Police remain at the scene outside the Park Inn in West George Street.
First Minister Nicole Sturgeon and Prime Minister Boris Johnson have expressed their concern on this.
Sturgeon says the incident were “truly dreadful” and in Boris’s words he was “deeply saddened by the terrible incident in Glasgow”.
People have been urged to avoid the area by the Police Scotland Assistant Chief Constable Steve Johnson.
According to him “Armed police officers attended the incident and I can confirm that a male suspect was shot by an armed officer.
“I would like to reassure the public that at this time we are not looking for anyone else in relation to this incident.
“I can also confirm that a police officer was injured while dealing with the incident and that officer is receiving treatment in hospital.”
A witness by name Mr. Milroy, who saw the incident from his office building said four people had been taken away in the ambulances. He further added that after the incident, there was chaos, ambulances showing up and the armed police all running into the hotel next to the Society Room.”We were still standing outside, after that the police all came down, the riot police and triage team told us to go back in and lock the door.”
The Park Inn Hotel is currently being used to house asylum seekers.
