Jalan Alston Death – The Authorities has identified the high school graduate from Brooklyn, New York, who gave his life to save two friends in the water off Ventnor, New Jersey over the weekend, as 18-year-old Jalan Alston.
Jalan was reported to be visiting the Jersey shore with his friends when he jumped into the water to help them after he saw that they were having trouble in the water on Friday night, just before 7:00 p.m.
According to U.S Coast Guard, Alston was able to save his friends, he pushed them to the shore but he didn’t return. The 911 call was placed by one of his friends.
In Capt. Jonathan Theel, commander of Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay’s words: “Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of Jalan. It’s always difficult to suspend a case and it weighs especially heavy on our hearts knowing that he was helping others.”
Jalan’s body was later found on Saturday night in Atlantic City, says Chief Doug Biagi with the Ventnor Police Department.
Speaking to Action News, Mark, Jalan’s elder brother says that Jalan will always be remembered for his willingness to positively impact others and for being full of love.
“My brother is best described as strong and selfless, he always looked out for me the same way I looked out for him. He was pure of love and will always be remembered for his positive impacts due to the fact that I don’t have any negative ones. He was never combative and treated everyone fairly and equally. He is courageous and one of the smartest kids I know,” says Mark.
Mark continues by saying: “I love him and I will cherish every memory I have with him, he made me a better person because I always knew that him being my younger brother he’d be watching and copying me. I hope he watches over me and feels the love I have for him, he will never be forgotten.”
The deceased, Jalan Alston was a 2020 graduate of George Westinghouse High School and was celebrating his recent graduation in Ventnor.
Chief Biagi expressed his condolences to Jalan’s family and the Ventnor community in a facebook post.
