World War II veteran James Patton Passed Away | Cause Of Death:
James Patton of Tinley Park died January 28, 2020 following severe ghastly vehicle crash that happened at the intersection of 167th Street and Cicero Avenue in Oak Forest, said police.
James Patton passed away Tuesday at about 2:50 a.m from injuries sustained in accident. He passed on at the age of 94, said police.
Patton was traveling in a vehicle as a passenger, when for reasons unknown, the driver collided with other vehicles on the road, he was severely injured and unresponsive at the scene of accident. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, said report.
James was currently employed at Patton Motor Service, owned by his son, Pat before he died.
He was a World War II veteran in the U.S. Army, Patton enlisted in 1943. He was deployed with the 94th Infantry Division and traveled from New York to Scotland aboard the Queen Elizabeth. He served in France after D-Day before joining U.S. Gen. George Patton’s forces and heading east across the Rhine River into Czechoslovakia, Belgium and Luxembourg.
He was honored as the Hero of the Game by the Chicago White Sox on Aug. 11 at Guaranteed Rate Field, with fans cheering as he was honored on the field. He and 85 family and friends enjoyed the game in a luxury suite.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
