Karel Knesl represented Czechoslovakia at the 1964 Tokyo Summer Games, where Czechoslovakia won the Silver medal. He won a silver medal with the national team at the 1964 Olympics in Tokyo.
According to Lost Olympians, from 1966 to 1970, Karel Knesl played in a red and white jersey. During his time in Eden, he scored 190 matches, of which 69 were league matches. He wore the jersey of the Prague Dukla before coming to Slavia, with which he collected three Czechoslovak league titles, three victories in the American Cup and a triumph in the Czechoslovak Cup.
