OPP officers responded to a 911 call at a home on County Road 18 in the community south of Ottawa shortly after 9 p.m. Friday, 24th of July 2020. Ontario Provincial Police have charged a 32-year-old man with second-degree murder following the death of Karen Gottschalk-Millar, of Ottawa at a supportive home in Kemptville.
According to police reports, Kyle Pflieger, 32, of North Grenville, is facing a charge of second-degree murder and two counts of assaulting a peace officer. He remains in police custody and was due in court Sunday in Brockville. The Kemptville home is operated by Pathways to Independence. On its website, Pathways to Independence says it is a “community based, not for profit agency providing assisted community living services and supports to people with an acquired brain injury or a developmental disability who may also have complex needs based on their unique goals, abilities and choices.”
