Kyle Nelson Death – The Chief of Operations Jason Reinfeld with the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office have released the identity of the man who died on Friday while floating the Wenatchee River as 39-year-old Kyle Nelson, of Wenatchee.
Reports have it that about 12:30 p.m, Nelson was inner tubing with friends when he fell off near Monitor. No one saw Nelson fall into the water as he was behind the group. He was not wearing a life jacket, says Reinfeld.
According to Cpl. Randy Lake, Nelson was later pulled by a rafter onto an island in the river and then rescuers moved Nelson into their raft and performed CPR until they met medical crews downriver near the Sleepy Hollow Bridge. He was later pronounced dead.
A gofundme page was created to support Nelson’s family pay for funeral expenses.
Reinfeld in his release on Monday advised river users to be cautious and to use a personal life jacket always. He stated that the river is, “flowing much higher than usual.”
According to records, Nelson is the second person to drown while recreating on the Wenatchee River this summer.
