Lauren K Newman has died. She was a wonderful guitarist and her sense of music is un-underrated. Friends and families of LKN are paying tributes to her on social media.

RoycroftMusic @RoycroftMusic: Pensacola’s own, the mighty Lauren K Newman has passed away at 41, and I’m pretty torn up about it. Wonderful human being, ferocious talent. Only the good die young.

On Facebook, Michael Racine wrote;
“One of my favorite memories of Lauren K Newman was was during a reading I was doing at Van Gogh’s. It was a mix of poets and musicians but performing separately.
When I got up to read I noticed her behind me on the stage messing with her guitar. I kept wondering “When is Lauren going to leave the stage?”

So I decided to just start reading. Unbeknownst to me Scotty Satterwhite asked her to play behind me as I read.
Her playing energized the hell out of me. It launched me into a whole other direction creatively mixing the poets and musicians together. At another show input on at Van Gogh’s she played with Jamey Jones as he read. That was a great night.

Rest in Peace my friend.”
