Mark Meierhenry Death | Mark Meierhenry Obituary – A former South Dakota attorney general and the patriarch of an influential legal family, Mark Meierhenry has passed away at the age of 75. He went on to serve two terms as attorney general from 1979 to 1987, a time frame that overlapped the first two terms of Gov. Bill Janklow’s tenure in office, who had preceded Meierhenry as attorney general.
During his eight years, Meierhenry argued six times before the U.S. Supreme Court, compiling a 3-3 record, according to SoDak Governors, a website that chronicles South Dakota’s political history. We extend our condolences.
Mark Meierhenry was always a joy to talk to. In his 8 years as a Republican attorney general, he never sought the death penalty. He later publicly opposed the death penalty.https://t.co/NAPKg7G7Uq
