Matiss Kivlenieks Death, Obituary – cause of death – The 24 year old man who died in a fireworks accident last weekend has been identified by authorities and family as Matiss Kivlenieks.
Kivlenieks was Blue Jackets goaltender. According to news updates. there will be a memorial service in the U.S. before his family holds their own service in his home country.
Reports disclosed that Kivlenieks died from chest trauma after a fireworks accident at the home of Blue Jackets goaltending coach Manny Legace.
Matiss Kivlenieks died on Sunday, 11th of July 2021.
Matiss Kivlenieks will be greatly remembered by all who knew him.

Contributions will support youth hockey initiatives in both Columbus and Matiss’ home country of Latvia and will be matched up to $80,000”
SportsCenter said; “Columbus Blue Jackets goalie Matiss Kivlenieks died on Sunday at the age of 24. The team said Kivlenieks died as the result of a “tragic accident,” suffering an apparent head injury in a fall. Update: An autopsy revealed that Kivlenieks died of chest trauma from an errant fireworks mortar blast, and not a fall, as authorities previously reported.”

CNN said; “Matiss Kivlenieks, the goaltender for the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League, died Sunday night after an accident involving fireworks at a private party in Novi, Michigan, which led to a fall, according to police.”
