Merrimack River Death – The authorities have confirmed the death of a teenager who drowned while swimming with his friends in the Merrimack River near Oxbow Pond Road in Canterbury on Saturday. The teen was only identified as being 15-year-old pending the notification of his family for a full identity.
According to witness report, the boy started struggling in the water and the bystanders attempted to help but before they could reach him, he had gone under water and did not resurface.
Reports says around 6 p.m on Saturday, the rescue officials were called. He was later found by the Concord Fire Department near the Boscawen and Canterbury town line just after 7:30 p.m.
He was taken to Concord Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The NH Marine Patrol, State Police Troop D, Boscawen Police and Boscawen Fire also assisted in the search.
Investigation is still ongoing.
