Victims In U.S. Highway 27 and Cypress Gardens Boulevard, Winter Haven Identified

The fatal motor vehicle crash that happened on at the intersection of U.S. Highway 27 and Cypress Gardens Boulevard in Winter Haven claimed the lives of 45 year-old Tanya Chewning and her 13 year-old grandson Curtis Handshoe, a student at Stambaugh Middle School.

Investigation shows that, Chewning was travelling on Cypress Gardens Boulevard in the left turn lane to head north onto U.S. 27 and stopped the vehicle when at the light. The light turned green and she drove forward, meanwhile, 44-year-old Tiffany Liles travelling southbound on U.S. 27 with her 1 year-old granddaughter.

Liles’ traffic light was red at that time, but she failed to stop which made her hit the driver side of Chewning’s vehicle. Chewning and Handshoe succumbed to the fatal accident were pronounced dead at the scene.

Liles and her granddaughter sustained mild injuries and were transported to local hospitals.

When Did The Fatal Accident Happen?

According to report, the vehicle crash that led to the death of Reed happened at about 6:35 p.m. Monday, evening.

The crash remains under investigations.
