Woman who died in a three-car crash on Route 104 has been ID by the coroner

According to the reports of the Illinois State Police, a fatal accident involving three vehicles took place on Illinois Route 104 approximately a quarter mile east of Interstate 55. The accident resulted in the passing of one individual. Cassandra Prindle, 33, of Springfield, was driving westbound on IL Route 104, approximately a quarter mile east of I-55 near Pawnee, Illinois, on January 5 at approximately 1:50 p.m., when for reasons that are currently unknown, she crossed the center line and collided with the vehicle of Fred Fleck, 20, of Sherman, Illinois, according to the Illinois State Police.

The accident report states that Prindle’s vehicle then turned into the path of another vehicle driven by 42-year-old Pawnee resident LaDonna Rude, and they were involved in a collision that was very nearly head-on. It was established that Rude had passed away at the scene of the accident. The injured driver, her two minor passengers, and Prindle were sent to a hospital in the surrounding area after being transported from the car in which they were traveling.

The officer who pulled over Prindle handed him a penalty for improper lane usage as well as for failing to reduce his speed in time to prevent an accident. An investigation into the incident is currently being carried out by both Troop 6 of the Illinois State Police and the Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit of the Illinois State Police (TCRU).
